I often ask myself what keeps me working on the sculptures every day. I an post a while ago I identified the Doozers of Fraggle Rock (the Fraggles in german) as a possible (early) inspiration.

Some days ago while working I had another flashback: I was suddenly thinking of Gulliver’s Travels (Gulliver’s Reisen in german) and a scene where Gulliver was stranded with his shipwreck in the country of Liliput. He awoke and found himself as a prisoner of the inhabitants of Liliput which were just one-twelfth the size of normal human beings.

But take a close look at this illustration which I just found. There’s a lot going on in there!

That’s what I have in mind when I work on my sculptures. I want to create sculptures with lots of details and merging different scales of objects. Creating the illusion that a lot of things are happening at the same time. Or losing yourself in the depth of details (to slow down time?).

Another aspect is being physically a part of my sculpture. Being a fragile sculpture. That’s definitely something I will explore. Stay tuned.

I changed the layout and content of the web site since I am currently applying at open calls for exhibition proposals in order to exhibit my work.

This means I am currently writing and sending proposals, which is not a problem since I have many ideas. At the same time I continue working on the sculptures almost every day, especially in the morning hours (”Morgen Stund’ hat Gold im Mund!”).

As you might have noticed I changed the sub-headline of this web site to “compressed cultural objects” which - I think - explains my intentions in a more direct way.

Ciao, à bientôt!
